The Health Care Aide position will be based out of the Enhanced Care Unit, Type A Continuing Care Home; however, it may involve working on all units at Mackenzie Place when required. Residents may exhibit challenging, unpredictable responsive behaviors, which require enhanced staffing expertise to provide care and oversight. Reporting to the Care Manager, you will work under the supervision of a regulated health professional while delivering healthcare services.

You will be responsible for providing care within the boundaries of your competency and education and follow care plans using your knowledge, skills and abilities to provide safe and competent care. While providing care to residents in the Enhanced Care Unit, you must be astute in their level of observation, identify and report subtle changes in resident behaviours and implement strategies to mitigate potential escalation of responsive behaviours. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currentlyhas a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and ispayable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities.

You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation,



and safety needs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health skilled, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.

Assisted Living Alberta Classification: Health Care Aide Multi-Site: Not Applicable Employee Class: Regular Part Time Length of Shift in weeks: Shifts per cycle: 21 Days Off: As Per Rotation Assisted Living Alberta Classification: Health Care Aide Unit and Program: 1 West Mackenzie Place Multi-Site: Not Applicable Employee Class: Regular Part Time Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: Shifts per cycle: 21 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Required Qualifications: Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Seniors Health is an asset.

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention

Training (NVCI). Foot care course/experience.

Supportive

Pathways training or Supportive Dementia course.

Experience with helping to manage Code White situations.

Experience working with residents experience moderate to severe responsive behaviours. A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work. Communities.
