The salary range for this position is CAD $27.26 - $29.16 / hour We are currently looking to fill a Casual opportunity for a Health Unit Aide with Public Health for Langley .

Maternity

Top-Up: Receive an 87% top-up during maternity leave. Under the general supervision of the Admin Supervisor, the Health Unit Aide assists Public Health Unit Teams in a variety of support and service areas such as vaccine management, inventory and logistics set up for immunization clinics; maintaining and distributing the Unit's biological supply; conducting hearing and vision screening, maintaining and cleaning a variety of supplies and equipment, and performs related clerical duties such as creating spreadsheets, data entry, word processing, filing, and photocopying.

Support

Population and Public Health (PPH) as a Biological Product Monitor (BPM), following the Provincial guidelines within the BCCDC Communicable Disease Control Manual - Chapter 2: Immunization (BC Immunization Manual).

The Health Unit

Aide (HUA) will be responsible for ordering, receiving and storing all biological products, auditing inventories, and tracking exposure history for every exposed product. The HUA, in collaboration with local site leadership, ensures twice daily monitoring of the refrigerators and freezers internal temperature, and arranges service calls and maintenance for the biological refrigerators/freezers. The HUA will maintain documentation at the office level to support storage conditions for vaccines that are returned to BCCDC for redistribution.

Maintain physical inventories of clinical, biological and pharmaceutical supplies, equipment,



and client education materials at the health unit and other Public Health service delivery locations.

Duties include: monitoring, documenting and reporting inventory levels; The HUA communicates with Health Unit staff, Central Stores/Purchasing, community vaccine providers and pharmacies regarding supplies and equipment. Prepare and distribute clinic supplies for daily use by performing duties such as: stocking clinic rooms with supplies for each public health program, preparing supplies for off-site and community activities, maintaining supply of client education materials in waiting rooms and clinic rooms, ensuring client information boards are up to date, and maintaining general order and tidiness of the public and clinical spaces. Maintain digital inventory of biological and pharmaceutical supplies at the Health Unit using Paris, ImmsBC and other systems as required.

Fill vaccine orders and answer or redirect inquiries from internal Fraser Health immunizing partners and externals partners, such as community vaccine providers (CVPs). Maintain current Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) requirements to ensure that the packaging and transportation of supplies, biologicals, materials, and equipment are in compliance with TDG standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support clinics by performing duties such as: forecasting, advanced planning, and maintaining biological and other related supplies.

Support Sexual

Health and Blood Borne Infection Clinics and Youth Clinics,



on and off Health Unit (community) sites through stocking clinical rooms, packaging and transporting specimens, packaging and transporting equipment for reprocessing, and other duties as required. Perform word processing and data entry functions such as correspondence, statistical data, copy or general instruction by using software applications such as Word, Excel, graphics and databases; draft correspondence for review and signature; Education, Training, and Experience: Grade twelve (12), Medical Office Assistant Certificate, plus one (1) year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Driver's Licence and possession of a personal vehicle.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to perform electronic data entry and word processing at 40 wpm using relevant software applications. Knowledge of general office procedures.
