Role Description The Heavy Equipment Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment to support earthworks construction activities. Day-to-day tasks include safely maneuvering equipment on active job sites, loading and unloading materials, completing excavation and grading work according to project specifications, and following site plans and instructions from supervisors.
The Heavy Equipment
Operator will perform basic inspections, report equipment issues,
and work closely with site crews to maintain productivity and safety standards. This role requires adherence to company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and environmental considerations while contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Solid equipment operation skills, including experience with heavy equipment commonly used in earthworks civil construction projects.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance practices, including daily inspections, basic troubleshooting, and reporting of mechanical issues.
- Experience in excavation and grading work, with the ability to interpret site plans and work within specified tolerances.
- Understanding of safe handling and operation of heavy and used equipment, including awareness of site safety protocols and hazard identification.
- Relevant certifications such as Heavy Equipment Operator training, valid operator tickets, and safety credentials (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid) are an asset.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, maintain focus in busy job sites, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and crew members.
- Reliable transportation to Calgary, AB job sites and eligibility to work in Canada.
- Previous experience in construction, earthworks, or related fields is preferred.
