Reporting to the Foreman, the Highway Maintenance Worker Operator plays a key role in maintaining highways, ensuring the functionality and safety of roadways. Ensure proper signage, traffic control measures, and emergency response for weather events, accidents, and wildlife hazards Maintain well‑stocked maintenance facilities and complete necessary documentation, including logs, reports, and safety records Safely transport hazardous materials and manage traffic in high‑volume work zones and emergency situations Maintain, service, and inspect company equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring proper care and security Follow labour laws, company policies, safety regulations, and environmental compliance, while applying QA/QC standards for highway maintenance, road safety, and hazard assessments Perform in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt Operate additional heavy equipment as required to support project needs Valid Class 3 or 1 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions ~ Experience in operating and performing minor maintenance on light, medium, and heavy equipment is considered an asset ~Be able to work on call and perform on night shifts when needed Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.
