Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Housekeeper to join our Halifax team! Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services the Housekeeper performs cleaning duties while helping to support and provide a safe working environment. Ability to lift, pull, push and move heavy equipment and heavy furniture on a regular daily basis (50lbs). Positive personal hygiene. Previous laundry experience. Must have regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Northwood corporate standard.

Ability to work well with others including: co-workers, supervisors and residents. Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Must have a minimum of 2 years work experience in the housekeeping field in a Long Term Care or Acute Care environment.

Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas. Performs periodic floor and carpet maintenance in accordance with established procedures and prescribed techniques. Assists, as necessary,



in other laundry duties such as folding, untangling, pressing, packages, and the distribution of clean linen/laundry.

Cleans and maintains washing and drying equipment for use in linen/laundry including the linen and laundry rooms. Follows safe work practices for chemical use including proper labeling, storage and use.

Appropriate Personal Protective

Equipment is used as recommended on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Completes project/special cleaning, in areas as assigned by the supervisor. Completes office moves - transporting of desks, cabinets and other furniture from one area to another as requested by supervisors.
