Calgary

Our client is the North American arm of a global engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm, delivering major energy infrastructure across Canada, Europe and the U.As the organization scales its Canadian project portfolio, it is establishing a dedicated Human Resources presence on the ground for its Coastal LNG Canada scope in British Columbia.

The Project HR Business Partner will serve as the head of HR for this single major project, acting as the central point of contact for approximately 140 project employees. This individual will be the trusted filter between the project (project and construction management, site personnel) and the corporate HR function, allowing site leadership to focus on delivery while HR matters are centralized.

This is a field-oriented role, requiring 1 week of travel out of the month. The successful candidate will rotate between multiple construction sites across BC, build rapport with in office teams, and lead a team of site administrators. It suits a seasoned HR generalist who thrives in remote, multi-site energy project environments rather than a fixed office setting.

Act as the head of HR and contact for all people matters on the project, relieving project and construction managers of day-to-day HR demands.

Serve as the interface between the project site and the corporate/regional HR department, ensuring consistent, compliant, and timely HR service delivery.

Centralize and coordinate HR activity across the full employee lifecycle for a mixed workforce of expatriates and local hires (~140 employees).

Lead and supervise a team of approximately 5–6 site administrators, each supporting a construction site of roughly 25–30 personnel.

Oversee core site operations including time entry, day-to-day HR administration, and workforce coordination across multiple locations.

Ensure each site has a clear HR focal point and that site administrators are supported, aligned, and consistent in execution.

Travel regularly to project sites across British Columbia (rotating between sites, typically at least one week per month, adjusting to project needs).

Build and maintain relationships with site management and personnel so teams have a familiar, reliable HR reference on the ground.

Coordinate closely with site administrators and site leadership to confirm workforce coverage and resolve issues promptly.

Ensure employees and new hires complete all mandatory safety training; liaise with the dedicated HSE team,

source training providers, and manage scheduling through to completion.

Oversee general services coordination linked to the workforce — including transportation/shuttle logistics, accommodation, travel and PPE procurement; largely delivered through the site administrators.

Uphold company policy, contract structures, rotation schedules, and pay practices consistent with Canadian construction-site operations.

10+ years of progressive HR experience, including a strong generalist / HR Business Partner foundation.

Demonstrated experience supporting major EPC, LNG, oil & gas, or heavy-industrial construction projects in Canada.

Proven experience managing HR across remote and multiple construction-site locations simultaneously.

Managerial / supervisory experience leading a small HR or site-administration team (~5–6 people).

Working knowledge of Canadian construction-site operations — rotations, contract types, and pay structures.

Willingness to be field-based and travel extensively; open to relocation to Prince George, BC where required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
