Become the Indigenous Community Wellness Coordinator at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, addressing healing needs through education and crisis intervention strategies focused on reducing family violence. In this vital role, you will ensure the effective implementation of the Indigenous Healing and Wellness Strategy. You will work directly with individuals, families, and the community to provide support and promote healthier lifestyles.
With a strong emphasis on Indigenous culture and trauma impacts, this role is essential in delivering impactful prevention programming and fostering community connections. Key Responsibilities:
- Address healing needs through community engagement
- Implement educational workshops and prevention initiatives
- Provide confidential support and crisis intervention services
- Foster healthy lifestyle choices in the community
- Maintain case management and advocacy efforts
Requirements:
- Preferred qualification in Social Work or similar field
- Deep understanding of Indigenous culture and family violence issues
- Experience with crisis intervention and teaching support groups
- Solid communication skills with community outreach experience
- Valid Ontario Driver's License and required background checks
