Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprentice or Industrial Electrician Apprentice

Description
Essential Functions:
- Assist licensed tradespersons in troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment.
- Participate in preventative maintenance activities on production equipment and facility systems.
- Learn to diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation-related issues.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, sensors, robots, and associated equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Support emergency breakdown response activities
- Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately.
- Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Attend required apprenticeship training and progress through apprenticeship levels.
- Follow all safety procedures and company standards.
- Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Reliability and Continuous Improvement Responsibilities:
- Learn and participate in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
- Assist in identifying chronic equipment failures and recurring downtime issues.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5 Why investigations, and corrective action activities.
- Support condition-based maintenance inspections including vibration,
temperature, lubrication, and visual equipment checks.
- Learn precision maintenance practices including alignment, torque control, lubrication excellence, and equipment inspections.
- Assist in maintaining accurate asset history and work order documentation within SAP PM or CMMS systems.
- Participate in equipment reliability improvement projects aimed at reducing technical downtime and increasing plant yield.
- Develop an understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and how maintenance activities impact production performance.
- Support defect elimination initiatives and continuous improvement projects across the plant.Build technical skills in PLC troubleshooting, automation systems, sensors, drives, and industrial controls under supervision.

Qualifications Required:
- Registered Ontario Apprentice (433A Millwright or 442A Industrial Electrician).
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing setting.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts including days and nights.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must maintain apprenticeship registration with Skilled Trades Ontario.
