McMillan has a contract opportunity (start date: immediate; end date: November 27, 2026) as an Information Governance Assistant for the Information Governance Department in Montreal. It is important to note that this role has a requirement to work onsite in the Montreal office at all times.
What You’ll Do
Under the general direction of the Supervisor, you will perform clerical and records administration duties in support of information governance activities. Responsibilities include preparing and scanning documents into the electronic document management system, tracking and maintaining the physical locations of files and original documents, organizing and sorting records, responding to file-related inquiries, and assisting with the disposal of physical files as instructed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Liaise with lawyers, legal assistants, and other firm members regarding file cleanup and scanning requests.
- Sort, organize, and process files to support ongoing records management initiatives.
- Provide weekly progress updates to the Supervisor.
- Perform other administrative, clerical, and records management duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written and verbal.
- Solid attention to detail.
- Familiar with Microsoft products and access databases.
- Ability to perform routine work and manage records boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to produce a consistent, timely and accurate work product.
- Ability to work independently with remote supervision; and work within greater national team structure.
