✨ Join Toon Boom – Where Creativity and Technology Meet!

For over 30 years, Toon Boom has been the global leader in 2D animation software, trusted by top studios like Disney, Fox, and Netflix. With innovation at our core, we empower creatives worldwide to bring their stories to life.

Please note that our office is located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and we are seeking candidates located near our Montreal office to support a hybrid work setting. Office presence may be required from time to time.

As a key member of our Web & IT team, you’ll work alongside exceptional talent to leverage the latest tech. This is a high-impact, hands‑on leadership role for someone who loves to build as much as they love to lead. While you’ll guide the team, you remain an autonomous individual contributor and the primary technical expert. You are the first person people turn to when something breaks, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Beyond driving our infrastructure and cloud services on AWS, you are accountable for the uptime and stability of all our systems. You also play a central role in implementing and governing our cybersecurity framework (such as CIS), ensuring the protection and compliance of our systems and data.

Your main responsibilities:

- System Ownership: Take full accountability for on‑prem and AWS cloud uptime, serving as the final escalation point for critical incidents.
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of SysAdmins, overseeing project roadmaps and cross‑departmental coordination.
- Architecture & Automation: Modernize operations through Microsoft Entra ID, automated deployments, and streamlined DevOps/web hosting collaboration.
- Resilience & Security: Implement a CIS‑based cybersecurity framework, manage centralized logging/monitoring,

and maintain robust documentation.
- Data Integrity: Ensure data availability through rigorous backup schedules and coordinated incident response.
- Technical Authority: Act as the "go‑to" expert for complex troubleshooting, supporting the helpdesk while proactively scaling systems to match company growth.

What you’ll need

- You have over 10 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role.
- You possess a deep understanding of AWS architecture, services, and cybersecurity best practices.
- You hold (or are pursuing) AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator.
- You are familiar with CIS benchmarks and have implemented security controls within hybrid environments.
- You are proficient in scripting languages like Python and Bash for automation.
- You have experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK.
- You have deep knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, and VPN, and have worked with AWS network services.
- You are an expert in virtualization technologies and administering containerized environments using Docker.
- You apply system hardening best practices across all environments.
- You troubleshoot issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.
- You have experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
- You are familiar with configuration management tools like Ansible.

- You demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear communication.
- You are known for your reliability and autonomy: you make informed decisions, manage your priorities independently, and communicate proactively with your manager.

What we offer

- Generous Time Off: Enjoy 14 statutory holidays, a holiday break between Christmas and New Year, and start with 3 weeks of vacation per year.
- Health & Wellness: Enjoy group insurance from Day 1, including virtual healthcare services, plus a $2,500 annual allowance for mental health support.
- Support Through Life’s Challenges: Our Employee Assistance Program (PAE) is here to support you through life’s ups and downs.
- Personal and Sick Days: Take care of yourself with 10 personal and sick days per year.
- RRSP Contributions: Secure your financial future with our competitive RRSP plan. We offer an employer match of up to 6% after 90 days of employment.
- Work Flexibility: Benefit from a hybrid work model with flexible hours that fit your lifestyle.

What to expect during the recruitment process

- HR Interview: If there’s alignment, we’ll schedule a video call to discuss your background and answer your questions.
- Meet the Team: Next, you’ll meet your manager and key team members to learn more about the team.
- Accessible and Inclusive: We are committed to a fair and accessible process. Let us know if you need any accommodations.

At Toon Boom, we embrace diversity in its fullest form. Our commitment is to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can bring their whole self to work. We believe in the strength and innovation that come from diverse experiences and perspectives.
