Job Summary The Faculty of Applied & Technical Studies invites applications for a Sessional Instructor,

Carpentry (Hope). Instruction for this position will take place at Shxwelis te Ts’qó:ls - Spirit of Hope Secondary in Hope, BC, in partnership with School District 78 - Fraser-Cascade.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in delivering a carpentry program through both theoretical and practical examples. Under the general direction of the Director of the School of Trades, and with the support of the Carpentry Department members, the instructor will organize, develop, manage, instruct, and assess the Carpenter Foundation program.

Applicants must have exceptional communication and teaching skills; demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level; and demonstrable ability to develop experiential and applied research opportunities for students. An ability to teach in community settings would be an asset, as would experience teaching high school aged learners, Indigenous learners and/or international learners.

This is a full time (35 hours per week) term position from January 18, 2027, to June 30, 2027.

Qualifications The instructor must possess the following:

- A Carpenter Certificate of Qualification with an Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement
- A minimum of five years’ experience working in the industry as a journeyperson

- Diverse industry experience covering all the competencies in this program

Additional qualifications could include enrolment or completion in any of the following:
- An instructor diploma or equivalent
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- A Master’s Degree in Education
- Additional certifications related to the construction industry





The ideal candidate will have a diverse industry background; extensive supervisory and management experience; leadership qualities; good interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; and a working knowledge of computers and various software applications.
