The Opportunity
Reporting to the Team Leader, Accident Benefit Claims, you will be accountable for investigating, evaluating, and settling Accident Benefit claims.
What to Expect
- Report to the Team Leader, Accident Benefit Claims, while investigating, evaluating, and settling accident benefit claims in accordance with the Insurance Act.
- Secure details of claims by corresponding with claimants and/or representatives.
- Assess coverage eligibility and review and apply interpretations of policy wordings in the resolution of coverage issues.
- Apply applicable Priority Rules chart to each claim file.
- Process income replacement, non‑earner, and attendant care claims.
- Reserve files appropriately after assessing the claim.
- Maintain detailed file records on an electronic claims system.
- Process payments after confirming perks, eligibility and reserves.
- Coordinate the most effective course of action for claims.
- Respond to claimant correspondence and accident benefit forms in accordance with the applicable legislation.
- Review and approve, when appropriate, treatment plans for claimant rehabilitation.
- Arrange insurer examinations to determine benefits eligibility.
- Prepare referral packages and obtain the necessary medical information for insurer examinations.
- Respond to assessment recommendations.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- University degree, college diploma in a related field or the CIP designation.
- Minimum 2–3 years of claims handling experience.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co‑workers.
- Ability to perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure.
- Team player adaptable to a changing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Salary Range
$51,300 – $94,400. Actual salary may vary depending on work location, skills, education, experience, working conditions, and the local labour market.
