About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated Intellectual Property Lawyer to join their forward-thinking legal team, working remotely across South Africa . This role involves advising on the protection, exploitation, and enforcement of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. You will work with innovators, businesses, and creative professionals to safeguard their valuable IP assets. The position requires a lawyer with a keen understanding of IP law and a proactive approach to managing and resolving IP-related matters in a energetic technological landscape.

Key Responsibilities

- Advise clients on IP strategy, including registration, maintenance, and enforcement of patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, such as licensing, assignment, and R&D; agreements.
- Conduct IP due diligence for corporate transactions and commercial partnerships.
- Manage and resolve IP disputes,



including infringement claims and opposition proceedings.
- Provide counsel on data privacy and cybersecurity matters related to IP.

Requirements

- Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in Intellectual Property Law
- Strong understanding of patent, trademark, copyright, and design law in South Africa.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating IP licensing and technology transfer agreements.
- Excellent analytical, research, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage a remote workload and collaborate effectively with remote teams.
