The Intermediate

Underwriter, Commercial Lines, underwrites and prices new business applications, endorsements and renewals on commercial lines policies within a set binding authority to grow and maintain a profitable portfolio. Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with brokers by providing exceptional customer service.

Work collaboratively to support broker, claims, pricing and accounting inquiries. Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, and responding to emails and/or faxes as required. Track and produce daily,



weekly and monthly production activity reports.

Assist in monthly business activity reporting. Willingness to travel as some travel may be required. A minimum of 3 years experience in commercial lines underwriting. Post-secondary education in a related field is required.

Working towards CIP, FCIP or CRM designation is an asset. Strong product knowledge and a thorough understanding of insurance policy wordings and the ability to make sound business decisions based on those wordings. A beginner to intermediate level of English is required in addition to French, as this role involves communicating with clients, partners, and other Echelon Insurance teams across the country.
