We are looking for a Junior Tool & Die Technician to join our team! Our sales have grown annually at a compounded rate of 18.0% for the last eight years, tripling our business, while making us one of the largest leading Tier II automotive stamping and assembly suppliers.
The most competitive pay in the industry based upon your skill level, along with a full benefits package. The maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing plant production equipment, support equipment and building related assets. Works with engineering, production and quality departments to support internal and external customers.
Assist licensed Toolmakers with die assembly, disassembly, cleaning, and maintenance. Prepare tooling components for fitting, polishing, and spotting. Transport tools, components, and materials between workstations as required.
Perform rough machining, deburring, and basic surface finishing under supervision. Measure components using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify dimensions. Assist with cutting, fitting, and modifying steel components as directed by senior Toolmakers.
Assist with changeovers and setup for production trials when required. Prepare die components for assembly, including alignment, spotting, and tryout assistance. Help install springs, dowels, and fasteners in accordance with tool drawings or supervisor direction.
Support tool build projects by performing repetitive or secondary assembly tasks. Complete inspection sheets and data entries for tool components. Maintain toolroom supplies and inventory (e.g., cutters, abrasives, hardware).
Support loading/unloading of tooling for shipment or repair. Perform general housekeeping and 5S activities in the department. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training. Previous experience in a manufacturing or toolroom setting is an asset, but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided.
Demonstrated experience in safe material handling practices Ability to operate basic manual machine tools such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, and drill presses. Familiarity with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges) and basic inspection techniques. Basic machining, deburring, polishing, and fitting skills under supervision.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Willingness to learn and work closely with licensed Toolmakers and other team members. Team player with a proactive approach to organization, cleanliness, and continuous improvement.
