The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for performing quality assurance and quality control testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with product specifications and regulatory requirements. This role supports manufacturing operations through analytical testing, process monitoring, equipment calibration, inventory control, documentation management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position plays a key role in maintaining product quality, production efficiency, and a safe work environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organization.

Perform qualitative and quantitative testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, including NPK analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, moisture testing, and other laboratory procedures while maintaining accurate sample handling and laboratory records. Evaluate analytical results, verify compliance with product specifications, identify out-of-specification conditions, and support root cause investigations and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Provide analytical support to manufacturing operations by conducting in-process quality checks, recommending batch adjustments, troubleshooting process issues, and supporting quality-related production decisions.

Set up, operate, inspect, maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory instrumentation while supporting equipment validation, qualification, and implementation of recent analytical methods. Maintain quality documentation and regulatory records, prepare reports, summarize analytical data, and support the development, review, and revision of SOPs, work instructions, and Management of Change (MOC) activities. Support inventory management activities including inventory tracking, reconciliations, physical counts, discrepancy investigations, and coordination with Accounting and Operations to ensure inventory accuracy.

Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including WHMIS, TDG, PPE requirements, environmental monitoring, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Operations, Technical Services, Maintenance, Sales, Marketing,



Accounting, customers, and internal stakeholders while supporting special projects, technical investigations, receiving, shipping, and warehouse-related activities. Minimum two years of relevant laboratory, manufacturing, quality assurance, or chemical processing experience preferred.

Experience operating laboratory analytical equipment and performing chemical analysis, including UV-Vis spectroscopy, moisture analysis, and related testing methodologies. Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control systems, root cause investigations, CAPA processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Experience with instrument calibration, maintenance, validation activities, laboratory documentation, certificates of analysis, test reports, and quality records. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, business systems, inventory management processes, and data reporting. Ability to troubleshoot laboratory and manufacturing issues, analyze data, communicate findings, and support process improvement initiatives.

Knowledge of WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), chemical manufacturing processes, and applicable safety standards considered an asset. Diploma or Associate Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.

Ability to leverage data analysis tools, dashboards, and reporting systems to support data-driven decision-making, quality investigations, and process improvements. Comfortable adopting new technologies, including AI-powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot,



digital collaboration platforms, and workflow automation solutions to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.

You have strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills in laboratory and manufacturing environments. You can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and productivity in a fast-paced setting. The base compensation for this position ranges from $23.94 to $31.89 per hour. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, mental health, life & disability, and retirement plan participation, including an employer match of up to 3% into your RRSP.
