The Labour Relations Team At Simon Fraser University Strives To Maintain Harmonious Working Relationships With The Employee Groups On Campus. We Provide

- Collective agreement and policy interpretation
- Collective bargaining
- Advice and guidance on the grievance procedure
- Support to investigations and arbitrations.

About The Role The Labour Relations Advisor is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the CUPE, local 3338 and the Poly Party collective agreements, and for assisting with the administration of the TSSU collective agreement and APSA policies and procedures. The incumbent of this position provides information and advice to the line organization and other members of the Human Resources staff on collective agreement interpretations and applications, as well as issues such as the disciplinary process; responses to absenteeism; and responses to grievances. The Advisor participates in some of the collective agreement negotiations with the Unions; and acts as a spokesperson for the University on behalf of the Director Labour Relations.

The incumbent of the position is also responsible for the collection/generation and analysis of some of the information required for grievances, arbitrations, and negotiations.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree with a major in Human Resource Management and training towards the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation,



plus five years of related professional experience including three years of experience specializing in labour relations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Excellent knowledge of labour and employment legislation and government policies (e.g. Employment Standards, Labour Relations Code, Employment Equity and Human Rights).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
- Excellent interpersonal skills including well developed conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information The assignment end date is April 1, 2028.

The pay range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for the position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
