Lerners is seeking a Law Clerk to support the Family Law practice group in the London, Ontario office.
The Law
Clerk plays a key role in supporting a busy and dynamic Family Law practice, managing both routine and complex files with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized professional who enjoys working with lawyers, clients, court personnel, experts, and others to help advance matters efficiently while exercising sound judgment, identifying issues proactively, and recommending practical solutions.
This role is ideal for an experienced Family Law Clerk who has at least five years of experience, who thrives in a cooperative environment, enjoys taking ownership of their work, and brings both technical expertise and strong client service skills to every interaction.
This is a Hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 (three) days per week in the office.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the progression of assigned family law files from start to resolution.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical file records.
- Monitor deadlines, court dates, limitation periods, and required follow-up activities.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients throughout the legal process.
- Coordinate disclosure, undertakings, procedural requirements, and file administration.
- Draft correspondence and court materials using lawyer instructions, precedents, and established practices.
- Prepare pleadings, affidavits, conference briefs, motion materials, mediation materials,
and other litigation documents.
- Maintain Continuing Records and related court documentation.
- Review documents for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and procedural compliance before filing or lawyer review.
- Prepare and update Financial Statements and supporting schedules.
- Review and analyze financial disclosure, including income, tax, banking, corporate, investment, pension, and property documents.
- Prepare Net Family Property calculations and related financial analyses.
- Calculate child support, spousal support, and other financial obligations using appropriate software and tools.
- Identify discrepancies and proactively follow up on missing or incomplete information.
- Coordinate court filings and service requirements.
- Prepare hearing, motion, mediation, conference, and trial materials.
- Organize evidence, disclosure, witness documentation, and supporting records.
- Assist lawyers with hearing and trial preparation as required.
- Anticipate file needs and identify opportunities to keep matters moving forward.
- Troubleshoot procedural and administrative challenges.
- Share knowledge, best practices, and practical guidance with colleagues.
- Contribute to process improvements, quality standards, and exceptional client service.
What You Bring Experience & Education
- Law Clerk diploma or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible law clerk experience, including significant experience in Family Law.
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex family law matters through conferences, motions, mediations, negotiations, and trials.
- Strong experience preparing financial disclosure, support calculations,
and property analyses.
- Membership in, or eligibility for membership with, the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario is considered an asset.

- Ability to manage files independently while exercising sound judgment.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy, professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and legal technology tools, including electronic court filing systems. Experience with ACL and DivorceMate is considered an asset.

Salary:
Target Hiring Range: $78,090 - $92,400
Commensurate with skill level, years of experience, and aligned with internal and market equity.
