About the Role
Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Data Scientist to spearhead their efforts in Genomics and Precision Medicine , working entirely remotely. This critical role involves leveraging advanced machine learning techniques and statistical analysis to derive actionable insights from vast genomic datasets. You will guide a team of data scientists and collaborate closely with bioinformaticians, geneticists, and clinicians to advance personalized treatment strategies. The ideal candidate is a seasoned data scientist with a passion for applying data-driven approaches to solve complex biological problems and a proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and application of machine learning models and statistical methods for analyzing large-scale genomic and clinical datasets.
- Design and implement data mining strategies to identify patterns, biomarkers, and predictive signatures for disease progression and treatment response.
- Collaborate with domain experts to translate biological and clinical questions into data science problems.
- Mentor and guide a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows for reproducible analysis.
- Communicate complex analytical findings and strategic recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Data Science , Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data science, with a significant focus on genomics, bioinformatics, or precision medicine.
- Expertise in machine learning algorithms (e.g., deep learning, supervised/unsupervised learning), statistical modeling, and programming (Python, R).
- Proven experience with large-scale data management and analysis platforms (e.g., cloud computing, distributed systems).
- Solid leadership and project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering data-driven solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, multidisciplinary team.
