Overview / Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity for a driven professional interested in taking the next step in their career: Wood Geomatics is seeking a full time Lead Land Surveyor for our Burlington office, that is both a current Ontario Land Surveyor and a current Canada Land Surveyor. With the support of Wood resources, you will be responsible for building and growing the surveying and geomatics business in southern Ontario as well as the supervision, direction and control of land surveying services related to various transportation, municipal and mining projects.

To succeed in this role, the successful Land Surveyor will be self-motivated and have a well-rounded background in the survey industry.

Working under the supervision of the Geomatics Discipline Lead, the primary responsibilities will include:

- Managing survey projects in Ontario (project planning, schedule development and management),
- Supervising and providing direction to field and drafting staff in the creation of both cadastral and engineering survey products, to ensure deadlines and objectives are met efficiently and on time,
- Providing quality assurance and quality control of end results,
- Taking professional responsibility for surveys performed,
- Ensuring timely and accurate invoicing,
- Maintaining professional communications with clients, staff, and the public,
- Calculating/ checking parcel boundaries, construction layouts, control networks in a wide variety of markets,
- Contributing to Business Development efforts with the aim of generating project work from new or existing clients.

- Skills / Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Geomatics Engineering or equivalent,




- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Ontario Land Surveyor,
- Active Membership with Ontario Land Surveyors' (AOLS) Association is required,
- Active Membership with the Association of Canada Land Surveyors (ACLS) is required,
- Other professional designations (i.e. PEng) will be considered an asset,
- Strong computer skills with experience in related software (Trimble Business Centre, MicroSurvey, Civil3D, ArcGIS, Agisoft),
- Proficient with UAV and 3D Laser Scanning Equipment and software for data processing, point clouds, and 3D modeling,
- UAV / drone pilot license considered an asset,
- Experience in precision spatial monitoring and deformation analysis considered an asset,
- Excellent work ethic, resourcefulness, and time management skills,
- Commitment to comply with Wood’s safety policies and procedures,
- Valid, unrestricted Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
