The Learning

Strategist, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism (EDI & AR) works closely with Executive Director, EDI & AR, and the Faculty Lead, EDI and Intercultural Learning, to support the development, implementation, and facilitation of learning opportunities that advance EDI and anti-racism across TRU.

The Learning Strategist, EDI & AR engages with community to help develop culturally responsive educational content, assist with research, and support initiatives that promote inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism aligned to institutional priorities and community needs. This position carries out this work with an understanding of TRU’s commitment to reconciliation and decolonization.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plans, develops, and implements EDI & AR programming for the university community.
2. Helps develop educational resources, toolkits, guides, online materials, and other learning supports related to EDI, anti-racism, accessibility, decolonization, human rights, etc.
3. Designs, organizes, and facilitates presentations and workshops related to EDI & AR programming.
4. Provides EDI & AR-related coaching and support to students and refers concerns to appropriate campus resources as needed.
5. Assists in evaluating programs and resources through tracking metrics, gathering feedback, and reporting on data.
6. Supports the Office of EDI & AR’s events and initiatives as needed.
7. Provides explicit communication to students, faculty and staff about EDI & AR initiatives and programs offered.
8. Develops and emphasizes community and university partnerships by collaborating on events and activities to support EDI & AR.
9. Stays up to date on current and emerging trends, legislation,



and best practices in the field of EDI & AR and translates findings into practical resources and recommendations.
10. Makes recommendations and collaborates to develop policy and processes with respect to EDI & AR.
11. May support and participate in committees or working groups that advance EDI & AR goals.

Requirements

EDUCATION

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Human Rights and Social Justice, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, including:
- Formal education or training in EDI-AR or decolonization, reconciliation and Indigenization

EXPERIENCE

- Two years of related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment, including:
- Experience with group facilitation and public speaking
- Experience with program development and program management
- Experience advancing equity, inclusion, anti-racism, accessibility, or related initiatives

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism concepts
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with diverse community partners
- Ability to deal with students, faculty, staff, and community with courtesy, discretion and tact
- Ability to design, develop, facilitate, and evaluate programming.
- Ability to gather, organize, manage, and analyze information, translating findings into practical resources and recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, online learning platforms, virtual facilitation tools, and content development software
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, working both independently and collaboratively

WORKING CONDITIONS

- General office conditions; sitting at desk and computer for long periods of time
- Some work may be conducted off campus, within the community
- Hours of work may occasionally include evenings or weekends for special events or training scheduled to meet schedule needs
