Litigation Legal Assistant – Consolidated Legal Services LLP
Position Summary
Consolidated Legal Services LLP is seeking a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant to join our busy litigation practice in Calgary. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our lawyers, managing files, and ensuring the smooth and efficient administration of client matters. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and client service excellence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Litigation Support: Draft correspondence, format, and prepare pleadings for filing, and other legal documents for court filings.
- File Management: Open, organize, and maintain physical and electronic case files; track deadlines, hearing dates, and limitation periods.
- Court & Regulatory Filings: File materials with the courts (electronic), monitor return of documents, and manage service requirements.
- Communication & Coordination: Act as a point of contact for clients, courts, opposing counsel, and internal teams; manage when required schedule meetings, hearings, and mediations when required.
- Document Control: Proofread, edit, and ensure accuracy and compliance of all outgoing documents.
- Hearing & Trial Preparation: Assist with preparing material, books of authorities, and exhibits; coordinate logistics for hearings and trials.
- Administrative Support: Manage calendars, arrange travel, process billing, and other administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Completion of post-secondary education in Legal Assistant or Paralegal Studies, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of court procedures, filing systems, and litigation practices.
- Willingness to learn procedures and practices in other Canadian jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Professional, proactive, and client-service oriented attitude.
