Job Summary:
The LPN is responsible for the delivery of Resident care utilizing the nursing processes of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation according to regulations of Assisted, Supportive and Independent Living requirements (as per legislative regulatory bodies). LPNs must maintain competencies based skills of knowledge, skill, attitude, and judgment to provide safe care. The LPN also ensures the care reflects overall philosophy of care.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Registered with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC)
- Full Scope – LPN.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in an Assisted Living and Independent Living setting an asset.
- Valuable working knowledge of the regulations established by the Assisted Living Registrar and other regulatory bodies.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated clinical competencies and leadership skills.
- A genuine empathy for older persons, the ability to relate meaningfully with them, and a desire to effectively care for them including meeting their mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Portray a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
- Evidence of good physical and emotional health and the capability to handle the demands of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously to develop and foster a team approach with members of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergencies within CLPNBC’s scope of practice.
- Effective leadership skills to anticipate needs and delegate accordingly.
- Ability and desire to support the organization’s philosophy, values, goals, policies and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in an ever-changing Resident focused environment.
Clinical Leader:
- Operates computer program & contributes to care planning.
- Performs services for Residents within Assisted and Independent Living – administration of medication and care – ADL’S.
- Liaisons with support services and families of residents as required.
- Liaisons with medical professionals as required.
- Oversees, assists, and supports care team with daily workload and concerns.
- Provides wound care
- Organizes and facilitates the immunization clinics.
- Performs quarterly assessment reviews of all residents.
- Assists in enhancing the Health and Wellness program.
- Attends staff meetings and educational sessions.
- Ensures that daily work duties are completed accurately and verified on computer.
- Is accountable for all keys sets, telephone sets, and cell phones.
- Responsible for documenting in communication book / share knowledge.
- Provides pertinent information and monthly reviews to the Care Manager.
Supervisor:
- Provides day-to-day support, coaching, and guidance to Care staff in the provision of high quality service.
- Ensures that care staff contribute to the maintenance of resident documents and files according to the principles and guidelines established.
- Performs other related duties as instructed.
Notes:
- This is a temporary part position, 4:30-9:00pm, 4 days on 4 days off
- This position is subject to union membership
