The Licensed Practical
Nurse (LPN) supports the delivery of comprehensive nursing care within a family medicine clinic setting. Working in collaboration with family physicians and reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, customer service, and administrative support to promote efficient clinic operations. The LPN is expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, patient safety, and confidentiality at all times.
Medical Duties
Performs a variety of clinical interventions and medical procedures, as authorized by the physician and within the LPN’s scope of practice, including but not limited to: Assisting with minor surgical procedures, pelvic examinations, and IU insertions/removals Performing point-of-care testing as ordered by the physician,
including urinalysis, blood glucose testing, and pregnancy testing Administering injections and vaccinations Initiating oxygen therapy under physician direction Maintaining the orderly storage and appropriate disposal of clinic supplies Administrative Duties Escorting patients to examination rooms and preparing them for physician assessment as required Receiving, sorting, and distributing mail and faxes as appropriate Participating in the orientation and training of new staff and students Maintaining an understanding of physician preferences and workflows in order to provide effective support Completion of a two-year LPN diploma from an accredited institution Current registration and valuable standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta Minimum one year of customer service experience Experience using EMR software, such as Med Access Strong clinical, customer service, and organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information in accordance with the Health Information Act and organizational privacy policies Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel Current CPR certification at the Health Care Provider (BLS) level is required Vaccine Storage and Immunization training is required We believe our employees should reflect the communities we serve and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
