The Logistics & Export Compliance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all outbound and inbound logistics activities, ensuring full compliance with domestic and international export regulations, optimizing transportation methods, and managing logistics-related costs. This role exists to provide advanced oversight, planning, and problem resolution across the entire shipping lifecycle—from documentation and carrier selection to tracking, escalation management, and continuous improvement of logistics processes.
The position ensures that all shipments meet regulatory, quality, and customer requirements while supporting the overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the supply chain. Prepare outbound products for shipment, including palletization, shrink-wrapping, banding, and securing loads to meet carrier and customer requirements. Select appropriate packaging materials (crates, pallets, cushioning, moisture protection, etc.) Ensure packaging meets international shipping standards, including wood-packaging regulations (ISPM-15) and customer-specific requirements.
Inspect final packaged goods to verify stability, labeling accuracy, and compliance with QMS and export documentation.
Coordinate with Production and Quality to ensure products are released, staged, and prepared for timely pickup. Maintain shipping related packaging material inventory and recommend replenishment or improvements to reduce cost and improve protection. (packaging, forms, pallets, labels equipment etc.).
Ensure proper ERP transactions for material movements, receipts, and shipments. Maintain an organized and compliant warehouse and shipping area.
Advanced
Shipping s Logistics Management Coordinate all domestic and international shipments, including complex multi-leg and export-controlled shipments. Select carriers and logistics partners based on cost, performance, and compliance requirements. Prepare, review, and validate all shipping documentation (BOLs, commercial invoices, export declarations, certificates of origin, B13, AES filings, etc.).
Ensure adherence to export control regulations (ITAR/EAR), tariff classifications, and customs requirements. Track shipments proactively, identify delays or risks, and implement corrective actions. Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and customs officials.
Maintain and improve logistics SOPs in alignment with QMS and EHCS policies.
Export
Controls & Compliance Oversight S. and international export regulations. Conduct periodic audits of shipping documentation and export records. Support internal and external compliance reviews and audits.
Train team members on export control requirements and documentation accuracy. Monitor freight costs, surcharges, and accessorial fees; Analyze carrier performance and negotiate rates or service improvements. Recommend packaging, routing, and consolidation strategies to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
Prepare monthly logistics cost reports and KPIs for management review. Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, Production, and Customer Service to resolve issues quickly. Communicate shipment risks or impacts to internal stakeholders and customers when required.
Customer-focused mindset with professional interpersonal skills High School Diploma required Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, or International Trade preferred Minimum 5–7 years in shipping/receiving, logistics, or supply chain Demonstrated experience with international shipping and export controls ERP system experience required (SAP, Info M3, Oracle, or equivalent) Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and processes Knowledge of tariff classifications, CBSA, PIP, ITAR/EAR, and export compliance Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Knowledge of warehouse safety, WHMIS, 5S Familiarity with freight cost structures and logistics KPIs Enjoy a robust vacation, statutory holidays as well as sick day policies!
