About the role
We are looking for a Logistics Manager who will be responsible for the overall performance of Good Protein's logistics operations, including 3PL partners, transportation, warehousing, receiving and shipping. In a fully outsourced operating model with 3PL partners and co-manufacturers, this person will be responsible for establishing the operational framework for this logistics unit, managing external partners and ensuring service, cost and compliance objectives are met.
With their team, the Manager will maintain a high level of service to our customers by ensuring adherence to delivery timelines and windows, retailer-specific requirements, and Good Protein's quality and compliance standards. The Manager will be accountable for the day-to-day execution of incoming requests, ensuring they are carried out efficiently and in accordance with established processes.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the VP, Supply Chain, you will:
- Manage the performance of 3PL partners and key logistics partners in Canada and the United States, including service levels, costs, capacity and adherence to established agreements.
- Define and manage the company's transportation strategy, including carrier selection, transportation modes, negotiated rates and service agreements.
- Own the budget and costs for transportation across inbound flows, inter-site transfers and customer shipments.
- Identify and implement initiatives to optimize transportation and warehousing costs while maintaining required service levels.
- Optimize inventory positioning and warehousing capacity with external partners.
- Ensure customer service objectives are met, including delivery timelines, receiving windows, OTIF requirements and retail customer-specific requirements.
- Track carrier and 3PL partner performance, identify issues and implement necessary corrective actions.
- Manage major logistics issues, escalations, carrier claims and logistics penalties requiring management intervention.
- Oversee compliance of transportation operations and related documentation, particularly for cross-border and customs shipments.
- Develop and operationalize the logistics capabilities needed to support company growth in Canada and the United States, including 3PL partners, transportation and cross-border operations.
- Establish and improve the processes, procedures and tools needed for efficient and scalable logistics execution.
- Define and track performance indicators for the logistics function and implement appropriate management cadences.
- Supervise,
coach and develop talent within the Logistics team.
- Set team priorities and ensure effective distribution of responsibilities and workload.
- Ensure daily transportation, receiving, shipping and data entry operations are carried out accurately and on time by the coordination team.
- Collaborate with other supply chain teams to ensure alignment between business needs, inventory, logistics capacity and service levels.
Candidate Profile
- 8+ years of experience in logistics, transportation or supply chain operations, including team supervision experience.
- Hands-on experience managing 3PL partners and carriers.
- Solid skills in managing and optimizing transportation and warehousing costs.
- Ability to negotiate and manage agreements with external partners.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership and ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing environment.
- Good knowledge of ERP systems - experience with NetSuite, an asset.
- Knowledge of EDI flows and major retailer logistics requirements.
- Experience in Canada–U.S. cross-border logistics and customs compliance, an asset.
- Experience in the packaged consumer goods (CPG) sector, an asset.
- Experience setting up new 3PL partners or distribution networks, an asset.
- Bilingual French-English required.
