Our client is seeking an experienced Machinery Maintenance Engineer to join their facility in Kimberley . This role is essential for the upkeep and optimal functioning of a wide range of industrial machinery. You will be responsible for implementing proactive maintenance strategies, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, and executing timely repairs to minimize downtime and ensure production efficiency. The ideal candidate possesses a strong engineering background, practical troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. This hybrid role allows for strategic planning and oversight, complemented by hands-on intervention when required, supporting vital operations in the Northern Cape .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules for all plant machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems failures.
- Perform repairs and replacements of worn or faulty machine parts, ensuring optimal performance.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings , blueprints, and machine schematics.
- Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers for necessary components.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance technicians on site in Kimberley .
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience as a Machinery Maintenance Engineer or in a similar industrial maintenance role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including gears, bearings, motors, and power transmission.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical engineering documents and CAD drawings.
- Experience with diagnostic tools, PLC troubleshooting is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
