:

- The Mainframe TSA / Development Lead will provide technical leadership for the migration of legacy FOCUS applications to COBOL and JCL-based solutions using SORT and ICETOOL utilities.

- This role is responsible for driving end-to-end technical design, ensuring functional parity, performance efficiency, and operational stability.

- The ideal candidate will guide development teams through modernization efforts, ensuring high-quality delivery and long-term maintainability.

Requirement/Must Have:

- Strong experience in mainframe application development and technical solution architecture.

- Expert-level expertise in COBOL.

- Advanced knowledge of JCL, including SORT and ICETOOL.

- Strong DB2 experience, including SQL, batch integration, and performance optimization.

- Solid experience with VSAM (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS as applicable).

- Proven experience in legacy application migration or modernization programs.

- Ability to interpret and re-engineer complex legacy logic into maintainable batch solutions.

- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities:

- Act as the technical lead and TSA for the migration of FOCUS applications to COBOL and JCL solutions.

- Own end-to-end design decisions, ensuring functional accuracy, performance efficiency, and operational stability.

- Review and approve technical designs, migration strategies, and coding standards.

- Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to development teams during build and testing phases.





- Analyze existing FOCUS programs, reports, and data flows to define migration strategies.

- Map FOCUS logic to optimized COBOL batch processing and SORT/ICETOOL utilities.

- Identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate, or optimize legacy logic during migration.

- Support data validation, reconciliation, and parallel run activities to ensure migration accuracy.

- Perform or review development in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM as required.

- Ensure efficient use of SORT and ICETOOL for data transformation and reporting logic.

- Partner with QA and operations teams to support system testing, performance tuning, and production readiness.

- Assist with post-migration stabilization and defect resolution.

- Collaborate with application owners, business analysts, and platform teams.

- Communicate technical risks, dependencies, and progress clearly to program leadership.

- Support knowledge transfer and maintain comprehensive documentation for long-term support.

Should Have:

- Working knowledge of FOCUS and/or SAS, particularly in reporting or data extraction.

- Prior experience migrating FOCUS applications to COBOL, SORT, or ICETOOL solutions.

- Exposure to mainframe performance tuning, scheduling, and batch optimization.

- Experience working within Financial Services environments.

Qualification And Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
