This role requires a highly skilled and experienced individual who can diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, perform preventative maintenance tasks, and execute complex machinery installations with precision. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Journeyperson Millwright must possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding techniques, coupled with a commitment to safety protocols.
Additionally, collaboration with other team members, adherence to maintenance schedules, and compliance with industry standards are integral aspects of this role. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI): MACHINE UPKEEP & MAINTENANCE (Weighting 70%) Install piping spools and associated supports in accordance with construction drawings and specifications. Lay out small-bore piping on skids, confirming routing, dimensions, and clearances before fitting.
Fit socket-weld and threaded (screwed) small-bore pipe and components using appropriate hand and power tools. Participate in project reviews with Engineering and Drafting to clarify drawings, address constructability questions, and document changes.
Machinery Installation: Proper alignment is crucial for the long-term performance and longevity of the equipment. Securely anchor the machinery to the foundation or mounting points, using appropriate fasteners and techniques to prevent movement during operation.
Maintenance & Repairs: Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, belt adjustments, and cleaning,
to keep machinery in optimal operating condition and extend its lifespan. Conduct thorough visual and operational inspections of machinery to identify wear, damage, or potential issues. Develop inspection checklists and procedures to ensure systematic evaluation.
Ensure that replacement parts meet specifications and are properly installed. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems, electrical faults, and hydraulic or pneumatic system malfunctions.
Blueprint
Reading & Drawing Ability to recognize and understand common symbols and notations used in mechanical drawings, such as weld symbols, dimension lines, and geometric tolerances. Ability to read assembly drawings to understand how individual components fit together to create larger machinery or systems. This includes recognizing fasteners, connections, and assembly sequences These tolerances are typically defined in engineering drawings and equipment manuals and may vary depending on the type of machinery and its application.
Welding & Fabrication: ~ Employ welding and fabrication skills to repair or modify machinery components, including fabricating brackets, hangers, or structural supports, and welding metal parts as needed. Maintaining detailed records of safety inspections, equipment maintenance, and repairs Accurately documenting any modifications made to equipment or machinery, including welding repairs or structural changes Quality Assurance Conducting inspections to verify that equipment installations or repairs meet engineering specifications and industry codes. Identifying and addressing any deviations from quality standards or specifications.
Ensuring that all welding work conforms to welding procedure specifications (WPS) and meets code requirements.
