We are seeking a dependable and skilled individual to join our Facilities team, supporting the Edmonton Base Lab and 28 + Patient Services Centres located throughout Edmonton and surrounding communities. In this role, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance and minor repairs to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This position plays an important part in supporting the daily operations of healthcare services, contributing to a secure and comfortable environment for both clients and staff.

Description

As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting.

Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Required Qualifications

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary.

Additional Required Qualifications

Technical: Perform preventative maintenance and repair of laboratory facilities, including plumbing and electrical, lighting, bench, furniture, doors and windows, as well as handle compressed gasses. Capable to move and transfer laboratory equipment and furniture. Maintain the warehouse and facilities shop in an organized and neat manner.

Communication: Communicate positively with client departments regarding necessary work/tasks that have been identified to be completed. Provide feedback to client department regarding status, cost, frequency and turnaround time of repairs. Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality in all circumstances.

Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, technical departments & Patient Service Centers. Track and verify completed repairs. Adhere to specific department safety measures by following established policies and procedures when using equipment and/or instruments.

Know location and use of safety equipment, including personal protective equipment. Understand, practice and maintain current certifications in Universal Precautions, WHMIS, and TDG. Report accidents and safety concerns to your team coordinator, and Safety Team.

Maintain an organized and safe work area.

Preferred Qualifications

Looking for an induvial with the knowledge and skills to complete a variety of facilities related tasks in most efficient and effective manner. Past experience / exposure to an electronic facilities task ticketing/tracking/reporting system.
