Important Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) through the Workforce Development Program.
To Be Eligible, Applicants
- Must not be currently employed in another position funded by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation(NOHFC).
- Must be available to work a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week for the duration of the one-year contract.

About The Role
SSMIC is seeking a motivated Marketing & Communications Research Intern to join our team. This internship presents an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in a fast-paced and supportive workplace.
The Intern will work closely with all teams to assist with research, rebranding, and marketing and communication programs.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct market research to support renaming and rebranding initiatives.
- Analyze existing assets and messaging to identify gaps and inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, content, strategy) to ensure cohesive marketing and communications rollout.
- Conduct research on the use of AI in marketing and implementation of AI strategies to improve efficiencies.
- Research and assist in planning internal and external communications including social media accounts.
- Assist with event planning including innovation awards to recognize innovation leaders in the region.
- Prepare research summaries, presentations, and reports.
What We’re Looking For
- A university degree or college diploma in business, marketing or related field.
- Aptitude for accurate, highly detailed and analytical skills.
- Strong research skills.
- Solid understanding of marketing principles and social media campaigns.
- Ability to develop marketing assets using Canva and other applications.
- Ability to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Superior customer service skills, and skilled attitude.
- Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Reliable,
independent, and able to work flexible hours with minimal supervision or direction.
