Klara Systems provides FreeBSD and OpenZFS engineering and support services to clients across EMEA, AMER, and ANZ. Our marketing function is organized around four pillars:
service marketing and positioning, demand generation, brand and community, and marketing operations.
The Marketing Lead is responsible for delivery across all four pillars. In practice, this means campaigns ship on the dates in the plan, the marketing tooling works reliably, and leadership always has a clear view of status. You are accountable for execution, operational quality, and the measurable performance of the marketing function.
This is a senior individual contributor position.
Strategy is set collaboratively: you are expected to help shape it, challenge it with data where warranted, and then execute it.
Own the marketing calendar and ensure that campaigns, content, events, and co-marketing commitments are delivered on schedule.
Coordinate and quality-check deliverables from junior team members, contractors, and agencies: set briefs, remove blockers, and review output before it ships. This is a coordination role rather than a people-management role, with no direct reports or performance reviews.
Produce a weekly delivery report covering what shipped, what slipped and why, and what will change the following week.
Contribute to quarterly planning and positioning, bringing delivery data on what is and is not working and making the case for reallocating effort accordingly.
Within two quarters, at least one channel or activity has been cut or scaled up based on your analysis.
5+ years of experience running B2B marketing execution,
ideally at a technology services or developer-focused company.
Experience planning and delivering multi‑channel programs across email, content, webinars and events, paid, organic, website, and outbound.
A track record of building and improving the systems marketing runs on: processes and workflows that raise execution quality, visibility, and accountability.
Solid project and operations management across internal teams, contractors, agencies, and concurrent initiatives, backed by concrete artifacts. We will ask to see a real project plan, tracker, or SOP you built and ran, and to hear what slipped and how you handled it.
The ability to use marketing and business data to prioritize work, measure impact, and influence decisions, rather than simply reporting metrics.
Comfort marketing highly technical products or services, working closely with engineers and subject‑matter experts, and translating complex technical concepts into clear messaging for both technical and business audiences.
The strategic judgment to push back on a plan when the data supports it, and an example of a time you did.
A habit of automating repetitive work, including with AI tools where they demonstrably save time or improve quality.
Experience marketing open‑source technologies.
Background in a technical services or consulting business, rather than exclusively product‑led SaaS.
Experience supporting long B2B sales cycles and partnering with sales on pipeline generation, including account‑based marketing (ABM).
Familiarity with GA4, SEO, WordPress, Elementor, Monday.Experience managing external agencies, freelancers, and marketing budgets. #
