Make a difference as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at the Minnesota Department of Transportation in St. Paul. This position involves full time repair work on critical heavy vehicles. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will diagnose and repair both diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles, including specialized equipment for snow and ice control.

Your role is essential to the performance and safety of Minnesota's transportation infrastructure. Regular work hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Key Responsibilities:

- Diagnose issues in heavy-duty vehicles and equipment
- Perform repairs on hydraulic systems and engines
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic problems
- Maintain specialized equipment for road maintenance
- Work in shops and remote field locations as needed

Requirements:

- Completion of a Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship or 3 years of experience
- Valid Class A or B driver's license without restrictions
- Active Minnesota Driver's license
- Experience with computerized diagnostic tools
- Knowledge of engine and hydraulic repairs
