The Vancouver office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking a Mechanical Project Manager. As a natural leader, you’re happiest when everyone is moving in the same direction, and you never hesitate to step up and get others the answers they need.
You have clear communication skills, and can effectively wield those skills to make sure clients, consultants, and contractors are kept in the loop. You can easily manage multiple tasks without getting frazzled, and are eager to take on some of the biggest and most exciting projects in the country. Perform or arrange for reviews of existing installation and interprets/manages the impact on the project. May assign tasks to designer and CAD Technician where appropriate.
Understand
Codes and Standards relevant for the project and communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities having Jurisdiction. Ensure proper coordination of documents with the internal and external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines). Understand (construction)
project procurement methodologies and recommend or apply such a method for the project.
Review all deliverables for the project including reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development and as defined by internal total quality management. Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes such as total quality management. Where requested by the Principal‑in‑charge or Associate Principal, act as contract administrator for designated projects, to ensure timely completion of all contract administration activities for the project.
Ensure that shop drawing review process takes place within project timelines. Coordinate with the contract administration team regarding drawing reviews, proper set up of contract administration process and site activities. Prepare all change notices or review change notices issued by contract administration team.
Respond to both technical and financial queries related to the project. Keep the Principal‑in‑charge or Associate Principal advised of all changes in scope of work and prepares amendments to the contract (e.g., Support the process of accounts receivable. Responsible for ensuring the internal project team discipline coordination processes are complete.
Prepare and continually monitor a schedule of tasks required to complete the project including hours to perform tasks and critical data required for performance. Liaise with external consultants, vendors as required to ensure smooth project delivery. Five or more years of project engineering experience in the field of mechanical building services.
A senior C.Direct experience and proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo software. Knowledge of the British Columbia Building Code, Plumbing Code and Energy Step Code. Direct experience with High Rise Tower construction in British Columbia would be considered an asset.
Advanced working knowledge of the provincial building code, ASHRAE, CSA and NFPA standards. Demonstrate a strong leadership quality and ability to work independently. Demonstrate the ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
Demonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects. LEED certification / Experience implementing sustainable design (LEED projects) is an asset. Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, methods and standards.
