Hybrid work: Remote 2 days/week following probationary period

Base salary: Compensation based on skills and experience

Job summary We are hiring a Collections Specialist to join our Collections team in either Regina or Winnipeg.

The Collections

Specialist is responsible for debt recovery on behalf of clients as part of a team of lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants performing debt recovery litigation work within a broader litigation practice.

The Collections

Specialist conducts investigations to identify assets, evaluates collection potential, develops collection strategy, negotiates and monitors repayment terms, and prepares accounts for legal action.

We are looking for a candidate who can work independently, has excellent attention to detail, displays sound judgement rooted in tangible collections experience,



can follow instructions with minimal supervision while adhering to strict compliance requirements and who thrives in a fast-paced, professional team environment while providing superior service to our clients. Hybrid remote work is available for this position following completion of the probationary period.

Responsibilities include: Using a business-minded approach to assess files for likelihood of collection to align individual and team recovery efforts with collection potential

Making outbound collection calls and responding to inbound calls and emails in an effective and professional manner

Monitoring and conferring with debtors and their legal counsel on settlements and payment arrangements

Preparing documents and correspondence for the Sheriff’s Office regarding the enforcement of money judgements

Communicating with the team lead, paralegals, specialists and collections administration to coordinate workflow and triage priority deliverables

Maintaining an efficient and up-to-date digital file system and matter status information in the firm and client portals, utilizing strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Drafting and editing professional correspondence and documents





Effectively triaging planned and urgent work within time constraints

Completing ongoing training and participating in client audit processes to maintain compliance requirements

Qualifications include: Minimum of three years experience performing collections work at a law firm, collection agency or in-house collection department

Advanced computer skills including Adobe, Word, Excel, Outlook, Planner and Teams

Experience with document management systems, Collect Link, Techcom and Litigation Highway considered an asset

Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-changing environment

Ability to remain composed when dealing with a diverse group of people and situations

Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, team-based environment A client-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service to internal and external clients
