PhD in Medical Physics or a related subject from a recognized university is required
- Demonstrated scientific problem solving ability
- Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in radiation oncology physics or equivalent
- Certified or eligible for certification in radiation oncology physics by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload
37.5 hours per week – days Monday to Friday; days
(hours of work may vary) must be available to work extended hours, overtime and evenings/weekends as required
This position is temporary until December 2027.
The Juravinski Cancer Centre occupies a modern facility furnished with start-of-the-art equipment for the planning and delivery of radiation treatment including ten Varian linear accelerators, including two Halcyon units, one Cyberknife, three CT simulators, an MR simulator and a high dose rate brachytherapy suite. The Department of Medical Physics at the JCC is an integral part of the Radiation Treatment Program working closely with Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology in all aspects of the program. There is a CAMPEP accredited Residency Program and strong ties to the CAMPEP Medical Physics Graduate Program at nearby McMaster University; the successful applicant would be eligible for an appointment at McMaster.

Reporting to the Director of Medical Physics, the Medical Physicist supplies scientific expertise to the Centre through the application of physics to medicine. This position is responsible for specification, acceptance testing, commissioning and calibration of equipment used in the Radiotherapy Department and the implementation of QA Programs. In addition, the Medical Physicist plans and implements new treatment techniques and/or technologies and advises Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists as required.
Additional responsibilities include conducting ongoing research and providing education for residents, students and visitors.
