Company Description Renew NC is North Carolina’s long-term disaster recovery initiative created after Hurricane Helene to help rebuild impacted communities in a stronger and more resilient way. Established by the Division of Community Revitalization (DCR), Renew NC oversees five programs focused on addressing unmet recovery needs in western North Carolina. These programs support housing, infrastructure, and economic revitalization to help residents and local communities recover and thrive.
Renew NC is funded through a $1.4 billion Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), enabling sustained, comprehensive recovery efforts. Team members contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on equitable and durable community rebuilding.
Role Description The Member role is a full-time, on-site position located in Markham, ON. In this role, the Member will support program activities related to community outreach, coordination of recovery services, and basic administrative tasks. Typical day-to-day responsibilities may include gathering and organizing information, assisting with documentation and reporting, participating in team meetings, and helping ensure services are delivered accurately and on schedule.
The Member may also help respond to inquiries from community partners, maintain records, and support special projects that further Renew NC’s recovery and revitalization goals. This role works closely with other team members and leadership to contribute to efficient operations and a positive, team-oriented workplace.
Qualifications
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and engaging with community stakeholders.
- Demonstrate solid organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.
- Show proficiency with basic office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email) and comfort learning new tools or systems.
- Exhibit problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established processes and guidelines.
- Ability to work on-site in Markham, ON, in a team-oriented environment and adapt to evolving priorities.
- Experience or interest in community development, disaster recovery, public service, or a related field is an asset.
- Relevant education or training in public administration, social sciences, community development, or equivalent experience is beneficial.
