Sault Community Career Centre (SCCC) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and adaptable Newcomer Program Support Worker to help newcomers access essential services and successfully navigate life in their current community. Job Summary The Newcomer Program Support Worker supports the delivery of settlement and resettlement services through client assistance, orientation, community referrals, administrative support, and recordkeeping. Working collaboratively with clients, team members, and community partners, the position helps newcomers access essential services, navigate Canadian systems, respond to immediate needs, and successfully integrate into the community.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Client Support, Orientation and Advocacy
- Welcome newcomers and help connect them with essential community services and resources.
- Support newcomers with complex cases and urgent settlement needs by developing action plans, coordinating services, providing advocacy, and facilitating timely access to appropriate supports and resources.
- Provide orientation, life-skills support, and information to help newcomers navigate Canadian systems, access services, and address immediate settlement needs.
- Assist clients with transportation to appointments with community organizations and external service providers.
- Build supportive relationships with clients and community partners through effective communication, referrals, advocacy, and follow-up.
- Support the planning and delivery of workshops, orientation sessions, and related activities.
Administration and Data Management
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and database information in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Complete administrative duties including scheduling appointments, maintaining files, and preparing required documentation.
- Utilize Microsoft 365 and other digital tools to support service delivery, communication, and documentation.
Qualifications EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE / LANGUAGE
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in English, both oral and written; additional languages are considered an asset
Knowledge/Experience
- Experience supporting newcomers, vulnerable clients, or marginalized individuals is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and intercultural skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience providing information, orientations, workshops, or other client-focused supports.
- Ability to respond to changing or urgent situations calmly, professionally, and with sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills,
with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proven ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative and solutions-focused team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Adobe Reader, database systems, and other digital platforms, with the ability to learn new technologies and processes.

- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, when required to respond to client needs and program activities.
