Embark on a research journey at Laurentian University's School of Engineering and Computer Science as a Research Intern focusing on AI and numerical modelling in sustainable mining. This role requires a 35-hour work week until December 2027. Ideal candidates hold a Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related area.
You will employ advanced modelling techniques, develop databases for AI applications, and support sustainable mining initiatives. Engage in extensive numerical simulations and contribute to significant environmental research outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
- Calibrate numerical models using relevant tools
- Conduct variational simulations under diverse conditions
- Organize simulation outputs into structured databases
- Validate results against published data
- Contribute to documentation and reports
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Mining Engineering or similar
- Minimum one year in numerical modelling research
- Experience with Particle Flow Code and FLAC
- Knowledge of data processing techniques
- Solid problem-solving and communication skills
