Nurse Practitioner – Urgent & Primary Care

Ajax, Ontario | Full time | Monday–Friday

Ajax Family Practice & Walk-In Clinic is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our established primary care team. This is a full-time position primarily focused on walk-in and same-day care, providing assessment and treatment for a broad range of acute and episodic concerns. We are looking for an NP who brings strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and compassion to their practice and who is comfortable working in a busy, collaborative environment.

The Role

You will independently assess and manage patients presenting with a variety of primary care concerns, including respiratory and ENT conditions, minor injuries, musculoskeletal complaints, urinary and gastrointestinal concerns, skin conditions, women's health concerns, and exacerbations of common chronic conditions.

Responsibilities include

- Conducting focused histories and physical examinations
- Developing differential diagnoses and treatment plans
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory investigations and diagnostic imaging
- Prescribing and managing medications within NP scope of practice
- Recognizing red flags and escalating care when appropriate
- Coordinating referrals and follow-up care
- Providing clear patient education and guidance
- Maintaining accurate and timely EMR documentation
- Collaborating with family physicians and the broader clinical team

Qualifications

- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN in the Extended Class [RN(EC)]
- Nurse Practitioner – Primary Health Care certification
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Confidence managing common acute and same-day primary care presentations
- Sound clinical judgment and ability to recognize when escalation is required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Canadian primary care, walk-in, urgent care, or emergency experience is an asset
