Health is hiring New Graduate Occupational Therapists into a variety of units and sites.
New Graduate
Rotational positions) Community & Home Health Long Term Care Mental Health & Substance Use Rehabilitation Rural & Remote Outpatient / Ambulatory New Grad Program VCH is pleased to offer new grad occupational therapists support and learning opportunities to enhance their confidence and competence as they transition to independent practice. As a new grad, you will have access to on-call support with clinical skills and decision-making, new grad education sessions and supernumerary buddy shifts to support your learning needs. Our support team for current grads includes access to a dedicated new grad educator, in addition to our entire professional practice team, that includes practice leaders and clinical resource educators and, of course, your co-workers.
VCH also offers acute new grad roles with options to rotate to multiple practice areas.

Health & Substance Use, Acute Care for Elders, etc.) Facility (i.e. VGH, Burnaby Hospital, etc.) the client population you served, duties, etc.) As an Occupational Therapist with VCH, you will: Perform assessments on client’s occupational performance utilizing an evidence-based approach. Demonstrate safe and effective resource utilization and quality management, and contribute to the development, review and promotion of occupational therapy services.
As required, contribute to the organization and delivery of occupational therapy services, and participate in departmental/program quality improvement initiatives, meetings,
research and education Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). Broad knowledge of Occupational Therapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care. Basic knowledge of occupational therapy standardised tests and measures. Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies. Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment. Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.
Demonstrated skill in Occupational Therapy techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies. Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections.
Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
