Eyecare is focused on providing elevated, personalized eye care and distinctive eyewear to a diverse patient base.

Role Description The Optician role is a full-time, on-site position based at West District Eyecare in Calgary, AB. The Optician will assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, perform measurements and fittings, and ensure proper adjustments for comfort and visual performance. Daily responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, advising on lens options and coatings, and coordinating with optometrists and clinic staff to support seamless patient care.

The Optician will also handle receiving orders and inventory, educate patients on eyewear care, running insurance and dispensing orders. Although not a primary role,



the Optician may be required to assist in other aspects of the clinic including but not limited to; pretesting, contact lens care and ordering, and other general office responsibilities. They will also contribute to maintaining a welcoming, organized, and positive fashion-forward optical environment.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of optics, including lens companies, designs, coatings, and frame materials.
- Experience supporting optometry services and collaborating with eye care professionals, including familiarity with eye exams and clinical workflows.
- Demonstrate commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction in a retail or healthcare setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with both teammates and the ability to guide patients in frame and lens selection.
- Optional: Relevant Optician certification or licensing (or eligibility) as required by provincial regulations in Alberta.
- Attention to detail in all areas of the optical process.
- Manual dexterity for precise measurements, fittings, and adjustments, as well as being open to using other measuring devices.
- Comfort working with modern optical equipment and practice management systems.
- Previous experience in a boutique optical or fashion-forward eyewear workplace is an asset.
