Company Description Mission Eye Care is a full-service optometry clinic in Calgary, located in the Holy Cross Centre in Mission just south of downtown. The clinic focuses on comprehensive eye care, including dry eye treatment, myopia control, and custom contact lenses for corneal disease. With five residency-trained optometrists, Mission Eye Care emphasizes expert care supported by the latest technology and research.

The state-of-the-art 5,500 sq ft clinic features 8 exam lanes, 4 pretest and specialty testing areas and 2 dedicated contact lens areas for both soft and specialty contact lenses.

Mission Eye Care is committed to growing its eye care team and is open to training promising candidates as well as welcoming experienced professionals.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometric Assistant role based in Calgary, AB.

The Optometric

Assistant supports optometrists with pre-testing, patient history, OCT and optos imaging, specialty testing including visual fields, topographies, specialty and soft contact lens trainings and other associated tasks. In addition to being a center of excellence for scleral contact lenses and myopia management, we are also a comprehensive dry eye clinic.



Opportunities for growth are numerous as training progresses in all of these specialty areas. Optometric assistants will learn basic patient procedures and assist doctors with more complex eye care needs over time.

Qualifications

- Candidates with clinical support skills in optometry, including assisting with pre-testing and basic eye care procedures are prioritized, but training will be provided to candidates with transferable skills from other health care settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service abilities to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry within electronic practice management systems.
- Comfort working in a quick-paced clinical environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Previous experience in eye care or healthcare is required; willingness to learn is essential.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field or optometric assistant training is an advantage.
