About our Organization: The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi‑purpose wellness and community recreation facility.
Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state‑of‑the‑art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six‑lane 25 metre lap pool, warm "lifestyle pool" and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot‑tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year‑round community programs to choose from. About the Opportunity: The Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill an auxiliary Out of School Care Leader position. Scheduled shifts vary, Monday-Friday between 6:30-9:15am and 2:00-6:00pm. Reporting to the Out of School Care Supervisor, the preferred candidate will be responsible for:
- Supervising snack
- Walking children between the Esquimalt Recreation Centre and Macaulay Elementary
- Leading afternoon activities which may include gym games, playground games, crafts, drama, science, cooking, swimming, and skating
- Providing all required care including, but not limited to, behaviour management, parent communication, First Aid, and the administration of medication with parent/guardian approval.
Our Preferred Candidate: The ideal candidate will be at least 19 years of age and have:
- 20 hours of coursework in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (eg Food Safe, NLS, NCCP, Child Psychology)
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification
- Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check from the Ministry of Justice
Salary: $25.26 - $27.28 hourly which includes 14% in lieu of benefits
