Our client is a growing organization with complex payroll and workforce systems, currently focused on strengthening payroll infrastructure, data integrity, and system utilization. They are seeking a Payroll Implementation Manager to lead payroll system ownership, drive configuration improvements, and ensure reliable, compliant payroll execution across the organization. This role blends payroll expertise with systems thinking and process design and is ideal for someone who enjoys improving how payroll operates rather than simply running it.
The Payroll Implementation
Manager acts as the internal owner of payroll systems and workflows, partnering with finance, HR, and operations to ensure payroll processes are scalable, accurate, and well-documented. In addition to overseeing payroll delivery, this role is responsible for system configuration, reporting frameworks, and continuous optimization. Own payroll system setup, configuration, and ongoing enhancements Lead payroll system implementations, upgrades, and feature rollouts Review payroll data inputs and outputs to ensure accuracy, compliance,
and consistency Act as escalation point for complex payroll issues and system-related discrepancies Partner with internal teams to streamline payroll workflows and reduce manual processes Develop and maintain payroll process documentation, controls, and SOPs Oversee payroll approvals and ensure timelines are met each pay cycle Support payroll reporting, analytics, and audit requirements Coordinate payroll-related aspects of advantages processing and deductions Identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities within payroll operations Payroll certification required (PCP or equivalent) ~5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a systems-driven environment ~ Hands-on experience with payroll system implementations or major optimizations ~ Advanced working knowledge of a contemporary HRIS/payroll platform (UKG experience strongly preferred) ~ Robust understanding of payroll compliance, statutory deductions, and year-end requirements ~ High level of proficiency in Excel, including reporting and data validation ~ Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with discretion ~ Comfortable operating in an environment undergoing change or transformation #
