Description

We're seeking a compassionate and experienced caregiver to support an 83-year-old gentleman recovering from knee replacement surgery in Scarborough (Markham and Lawrence area). This is his first time receiving professional care, and the family is looking for someone who can provide reliable short-term support during his four-week recovery period starting September 1st.

About the Client:Our client is recovering from knee replacement surgery and will spend one week in hospital rehab before returning home. He uses a walker and requires assistance with mobility, personal care including bathing and dressing, and medication reminders. He needs supervision for safety due to cognitive considerations.

His wife will be home but has her own medical conditions and cannot provide physical care. Prior to surgery, he was the primary driver for household errands and grocery shopping.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with morning routine including getting out of bed, bathing, and dressing
- Support evening routine and preparation for bed
- Provide mobility assistance using walker, including navigating stairs
- Medication reminders and assistance
- Light housekeeping and tidying
- Transportation to and from physiotherapy appointments
- Accompany client's wife on essential errands and grocery shopping
- Supervision for safety throughout the day
- Post-surgery recovery support and monitoring

What We're Looking For:

- Skilled PSW with Canadian training and certification
- Experience with post-surgical care and recovery
- Comfortable assisting with walker and mobility devices
- Personal care experience including bathing support




- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for transportation
- Calm, patient demeanor with excellent communication skills
- Ability to make clients feel comfortable and respected
- Reliable and consistent with positive energy
- Experience working with elderly clients and cognitive supervision

Schedule:Daily support for four weeks starting September 1st. Morning shift from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and evening shift from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (6 hours daily, 7 days per week). Schedule may be adjusted based on discharge timing from hospital rehab. Flexibility and reliability are essential during this recovery period.
