Brunswick employs emergency medical dispatchers, primary and advanced care paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and critical care flight nurses. As the provincial ambulance service provider, our dispatchers respond to calls via the 911 system and dispatch help within seconds. Our paramedics handle approximately 130,000 calls per year, transporting patients to hospitals by ambulance, and our specialized air ambulance crew transfers critically ill patients to marine centers.
Duties of Position
Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Primary Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile for Primary Care Paramedics, Paramedic Association of New Brunswick registration requirements, and Ambulance NB policies, procedures and protocols. Paramedics provide medical support to patients on scene and en route to hospitals, using emergency techniques and various medical treatments. They are the first on scene in times of crisis and do not leave until the job is done.
Required Qualifications
- Entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or work permit)
- Ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a positive attendance record
- High regard for confidentiality and patient safety
- Completed a Primary Care Paramedic program/course of over six months; if not, interest in career with list of paramedic programs in Atlantic Canada (link removed)
- Registered, active Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick; if not registered, visit PANB at
- Valid New Brunswick Class 4 Driver's Licence (or equivalent)
Additional Requirements for Your Application
- Current resume and cover letter
- Copy of PCP diploma from an accredited institution
- Proof of current registration with Paramedic Association of New Brunswick
- Proof of completion of a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) within the last 12 months
- Proof of valid CPR level C certification issued in the last 12 months
- Photocopy of front and back of valid Class 4 driver’s license (or equivalent) with minimum one year driving experience
- Driver's abstract issued within the last 30 days
- Copy of any valid driver’s course certificate issued within the last three years (e.g., CEVO, VFIS, NS VSP or equivalent)
- Criminal record with vulnerable sector check issued within the last 30 days
- Immunization record for Tetanus Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and TB skin test within last 12 months
- Valid official language oral assessments in both French and English from the Department of Post-secondary Education, Training and Labour
- Additional training and/or education is highly valued
