Elementary Occasional Teacher About The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) is committed to decolonizing education, equity, engagement and innovation. Professional growth and development opportunities designed to support both new and experiences staff in continuous improvement. The role and responsibilities of an Occasional teacher could include, but is not limited to: Plan meaningful learning activities when required, ensuring continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. Adapt lessons and materials to support multilingual learners, students with IEPs, and diverse readiness levels.

Cultivate a space of belonging by embedding practices of Indigenizing, inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility in classrooms and schools . A commitment to cultivating and nurturing meaningful relationships between HWDSB and the Indigenous Education Circle, as outlined in our Equity and Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression resources, such as Communicates clearly and respectfully with students, staff, and community to support understanding and engagement. Availability and commitment to work a minimum of 30 full days per school year, 10 days from September to January, 20 days from February to the last instructional day of the year.

Education (Specialist) Teaching English-Language Learners/English as a Second Language All personal details may be covered by candidate. Daily rate of pay starts at $291.87 (includes 4% vacation pay). Individual wage for Long-Term Occasional work is based on QECO Rating Statement and Grid Placement.
