The Product
Developer is responsible for developing client products using CAD software. Products must meet client needs in the most cost-effective and timely manner, while maintaining a high level of quality and safety. Evaluate customer’s needs: Research & planning based on available information Collaborate with suppliers to propose and specify cost-effective material and buyout solutions (e.g., Select materials and finishes that align with design intent, functionality, and budget.
Manage time and deliverables to meet deadlines and stay within allocated project hours. Identify and escalator g conflicting or erroneous information in accordance with project protocols Prepare production drawing documentation & provide technical support for production Translate project requirements into manufacturable solutions using research, consultation, and company best practices. Prepare detailed, assembly, and arrangement drawings in accordance with drafting standards.
Perform comprehensive design and detailing, including welding, tolerances, materials, machining, heat treatment, stress relief, and sizing. Develop detailed layouts to confirm dimensions and verify clearances. Produce accurate bills of materials and maintain basic material data.
Ensure drawing accuracy, consistency,
and proper documentation standards. Contribute innovative ideas to improve product design and assembly processes. Stay current with advancements in CAD software. Prepare supporting documentation for estimating, purchasing, and installation (e.g., construction details, installation instructions).
Coordinate with Project Management, Sales, and Production teams to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality assurance/quality control standards. Provide technical support to Sales and Design, and guide the shop during the build of new products.
Maintain an organized physical and virtual sample library. Conduct site visits and equipment inspections to investigate issues, failures, and defects. Perform administrative duties, including report writing and material purchase approvals.
DEC or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field ~2+ years in in mechanical design and drafting ~ Specialization in creative thinking and technical development ~ Superior understanding of design, engineering, manufacturing and installation methodologies ~ Solidworks (advanced knowledge). Wood and/or metal fixture (asset) ~ Bilingual (french & english), professional written and oral communication, self-motivated, organized, results oriented, proactivity, experience in fast paced workplace, MS Office, meticulous, precision, Strong attention to detail, Ability to work independently or in a team ~
