The Ordre des dentistes du Québec is seeking a Prosecuting Attorney to join its Syndic's Office. The Order plays a key role in protecting the public and overseeing the professional practice of dentists, particularly through the enforcement of ethical and disciplinary standards governing the profession.

The Role

As a Prosecuting Attorney within the Syndic's Office, you will assist the syndic team throughout all stages of the disciplinary process and represent the Order before various administrative and judicial bodies.

You will also be involved in matters relating to illegal practice and title misuse, while advising the Order on various legal and ethical issues.

Responsibilities

- Assist the syndic and assistant syndics with disciplinary matters
- Represent the Order before disciplinary councils, the Professions Tribunal, Superior Court and other relevant bodies
- Handle matters involving illegal practice and title misuse
- Conduct case law and doctrinal research relating to disciplinary and ethical matters
- Participate in drafting legal opinions, submissions, regulations and strategic documents




- Advise internal stakeholders on professional practice and ethical matters
- Advise the syndic regarding the application of access to information legislation
- Participate in negotiations and settlements of disciplinary matters
- Maintain and update jurisprudential and legal reference tools
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

- Member in good standing of the Québec Bar
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant litigation and advocacy experience
- Experience before administrative bodies or courts of law
- Knowledge of disciplinary law (strong asset)
- Graduate degree in health law or related discipline (asset)
- Strong advocacy, negotiation and legal drafting skills
- Excellent analytical skills and intellectual rigor
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset
- Strong command of French and English, both spoken and written
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal software
